James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010

How the Zadroga Law may help if you or a loved one suffered injuries from the September 11th terrorist attack

If you or a loved one are sick from exposure to toxic dust resulting from the rescue and clean up operations of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, we can help you get the medical and financial help you deserve.

In January 2011, President Obama signed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 (H.R. 847), called the Zadroga Act, into law. If you have 9/11 related health conditions, you may be eligible for health care under this new law but you must act quickly since enrollment in the health program is limited.

A large number of people exposed to the 9/11 toxins have already developed serious and fatal health conditions. If you assisted  in the Ground Zero rescue or clean up efforts, you too may be suffering from or develop 9/11 related health conditions.

Your doctor may have diagnosed you with conditions such as Upper or Lower Airway Disease, Acid Reflux Disease, Obstructive Airway Diseases such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); or Obstructive Lung Defects such as Reactive Airways Dysfunction Syndrome (RADS), occupational asthma (WTC Cough), Sarcoidosis, Silicosis or Asbestosis. Your doctor may have diagnosed you with a cancer such as Mesothelioma.

The full extent of the health consequences related to WTC dust exposure is unknown so your doctor may have diagnosed you with another 9/11 related health condition  not listed here. It is important that you find out all the facts since these health conditions can prevent you from working to support your family and participating in favorite pasttimes all while the medical bills stack up.

If you are a firefighter, police officer, emergency service worker, volunteer, construction worker, clean up worker, federal employee or city employee who is suffering from 9/11 related health conditions, we want to help you get the medical care and financial security you deserve for your heroic service to your country.

You can trust us to handle your Zadroga Act claim while treating you with compassion and understanding. We have seen the pain, emotional suffering, grief and financial repercussions these 9/11 injuries can cause.

Our attorneys helped more than 10,000 firefighters, police officers, EMTs, construction workers and others injured from rescue, recovery and debris removal operations at the World Trade Center site. In the World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation, our firm stood up for these injured heroes and their families in the largest respiratory diesase lawsuit in hisotry.  When elected officials and government failed them, we spent eight years compiling and fighting the cases, and in the end secured a landmark settlement of $816.45 million for workers injured by WTC dust.

The Zadroga Act reopens the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) to help people and their families who are injured by 9/11 toxins. The billions of claim dollars available are limited each year until either the fund is depleted or the VCF reaches its termination date. While administrators of the VCF are still setting regulations for implementation of the VCF, they are scheduled to start processing claims as early as October 1, 2011.

Remember: You may be entitled to compensation from the VCF even if you accepted a settlement in the World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation.

The Zadroga Act limits attorneys’ fees in connection with the filing of a VCF claim to 10% of the VCF award. Sheila Birnbaum, the Special Master appointed to oversee VCF claims, may further limit attorneys’ fees if she feels that 10% constitutes excessive compensation for services rendered on a claim.

We will use the knowledge and experience gained from our work on the World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation to fight for every penny of compensation you are entitled to from the Zadroga Act VCF.

Contact our attorneys today to determine if you are eligible for these Zadroga Act benefits or compensation and let us get your claim started today.
